The Georgia Association of Hostage Negotiators is committed to supporting law enforcement professionals through advanced training, professional development, and the sharing of proven negotiation strategies. Our mission is to enhance the capability of crisis and hostage negotiators to safely resolve critical incidents, protect lives, reduce the use of force whenever possible, and uphold the highest standards of public service and professional excellence.
ABOUT US
The Georgia Association of Hostage Negotiators (GAHN) is dedicated to advancing the professional development, readiness, and effectiveness of crisis and hostage negotiators throughout the State of Georgia. Through comprehensive, scenario-based, and hands-on training, GAHN provides high-quality educational opportunities for law enforcement officers, 911 dispatchers, firefighters, and other professionals who serve in crisis response and negotiation roles.
GAHN is committed to fostering excellence in hostage and crisis negotiations by delivering diverse, multidisciplinary instruction focused on de-escalation, active listening, emotional intelligence, mental wellness, emerging research, innovative negotiation strategies, and critical incident case studies. By hosting quarterly training events and an annual statewide conference, GAHN seeks to address the growing need for consistent, advanced training opportunities for negotiators across Georgia.
In addition to professional education, GAHN is dedicated to strengthening collaboration and networking among crisis negotiation teams throughout the state. By creating opportunities for negotiators to connect, share experiences, exchange best practices, and build professional relationships, GAHN promotes a unified and supportive crisis negotiation community that enhances interagency cooperation and preparedness during critical incidents.
Through collaboration with experts from a wide range of academic and professional disciplines, GAHN promotes a culture of continuous learning, professional growth, and operational excellence. The organization also serves as a resource for the crisis negotiation community by sharing educational materials, industry developments, and best practices through newsletters, conferences, and other communication channels.
